How the grapevines thrive in your place depends not only on how you care for it but also on the suitability of its variety to the existing growing conditions in your area.
Another important consideration in grape growing is the matter of using a trellis. Did you know that grapes need lots and lots of sunlight to grow? Sunlight is very crucial for the growth of grape vines and it is a source of its vital nutrients. With a trellis, the grapevines can reach out to the sun and soak up the sunshine that they need. The proper ripeness of grapes cannot be reached without proper sunlight. Also, the size of your grape vines can be maximized with the help of a trellis. It would also be easier to see the parts of the vines that would need pruning when need arises.

A grape grower also needs to know the needs of the variety of the grape planted to be able to anticipate its vigor and growth. There are grape varieties that would need a lot of space. Various grape plant varieties also have different soil needs. The variety of grape also determines whether your grapevines would need more pruning or not.

When growing grapes, it also important to keep the weeds and fungal diseases that commonly affects grapevines under control. Using a trellis for your grapevines would greatly facilitate the task of getting rid of weeds. Moreover, using a trellis can also help in enhancing the flow of air to reduce the exposure and vulnerability of the grapevines to various fungal diseases. Treatment of fungal diseases is also made easier with the use of a trellis as the overall exposure of the grapevines is better.

It will take at least two years before grapevines can begin producing fruits that you can set on your table. The amount and the quality of produce depend mostly on the care given to the plant. The grapevines should be fed, watered, and pruned correctly for it to grow well and abundantly.
